Trends: Hotel Le Meurice

In 2016, nine years after redesigning the public areas of the Hôtel Le Meurice, Philippe Starck has conducted a selective reinvention of the premises. “The objective of this new project is to explore – more deeply and from many more angles – the surrealist world that is the life, structure and soul of Le Meurice. If God is in the details, the devil of surrealism is, too. Every shadow, every corner of this place is bursting with the potential to surprise its inhabitants. Le Meurice is a space for the mind, where everything is poetry, allusion, reference, reflection and diffraction. Where the air thrums like some mysterious, mesmerising, benevolent music. And, like any mind, Le Meurice is unique,” says the designer.

By weaving the rhythm, melody and harmonies of this music, he brings out its lively, dynamic and cohesive qualities. Though subtle in the reception and lobby areas, his alterations are more pronounced in the restaurants of le Meurice Alain Ducasse and Le Dalí, as well as the opening of Bar 228 on the Galerie Pompadour.

As an emblematic establishment, Bar 228 delivers on amplifying a guest’s experience. At the 228, regular customers will find the familiar English club atmosphere replete with the nods to 18th-century France that gives the place such charm. Gleaming decanters in rare crystal, deep leather armchairs, dark wood     panelling, as well as the immense Lavalley frescoes created in 1907 from depictions of garden parties at the Château de Fontainebleau. These touches easily harmonise with the new counter’s contemporary air. Now larger, this counter provides William Oliveri – the indispensable Head Barman at Le Meurice since 1978 – an expanded terrain for exercising his talents.

In backlit Carrara marble rimmed in copper-pink distressed brass, with a top of Corian®, pink copper, and mirror-finish stainless steel, it subtly resonates with the touches left by the designer throughout the renovated areas. They are found naturally in the Galerie Pompadour, which becomes a veritable extension of the bar. The pink copper is used as the base for the new marble-topped tables and the mirror frames. The material is swathed in a surrealist spirit that guides the decorative unfolding. It is found in the Ara Starck carpet, in the walls’ pictorial works, and the medallion portrait gallery of 18th-century personalities decorating the backs of the leather armchairs. The spirit of French classicism is entirely at home here, a home that is vibrant with utterly modern mischief.

rr_41_eric_leong_hujung_minggu

Olah warna senada
Memang benar warna kediaman cara mudah mengubah mood dalam rumah. Namun biasanya warna tidak kerap ditukar ganti. Tapi ia bukanlah satu halangan jika mahu mencipta suasana baru. Apakah warna dinding tumpu ruang tamu anda?

Persinggahan menyegarkan
Manfaatkan laman rumah sebaik mungkin.

RR idea Ruang Tamu: Ketenangan Yang Ditemui

Tenang Disebalik Hijau Dedaun

Cahaya Dan Udara Nyaman
rr_41_idea_ruang_tamu_konan_design_living

Home Accessories Special

If “less is more” has never worked for you, by all means go for more. This said, it’s important to learn how to make your favourite decorating accessories work without visually overcrowding your spaces. Here are some great ideas to get you inspired.

Strong Statements
ch_155_home_accesories_x_two_concept_living ch_155_home_accesories_x_two_concept_bar ch_155_home_accesories_x_two_concept_corner

For this home, a dark and sultry palette is used as the backdrop to put together a harmony of vintage chic decorating accessories. In the living room, the composition is kept symmetrical, anchored by whimsical objects and a variety of textures. The bedroom takes on the same cosy approach but in the kitchen and dining, the designers have gone for a more solid appeal with industrial-inspired items.

  • Keep to a look that is simple and clean with a focus on function.
  • You can also lean towards a more masculine look to embody an industrial chic appearance.

Elegant Overtures
ch_155_home_accesories_desigva_bedroom ch_155_home_accesories_desigva_kitchen ch_155_home_accesories_desigva_living

Two key colours – white and olive-gold take the lead in this contemporary classic interior. Throughout the home, white offers the perfect canvas for the designer to paint the spaces with a touch of classic glam using a myriad of elegant accessories. In the living room, classic furniture against sleek marble flooring work well together while in the family room, wood flooring creates a warmer look. For the bedroom, a touch of silver is used instead, accompanied by just the right amount of decorating objects.

  • If you are going for a classic elegant look, aim for fine ornate designs, but make sure they are not flashy or over-the-top.
  • Always maintain a calm and neutral palette so accessories and details do not overwhelm the space.

Artistic Impression
ch_155_home_accesories_sqft_corridor ch_155_home_accesories_sqft_bedroom_end ch_155_home_accesories_sqft_bedroom

This modern oriental interior features well-placed decorating accessories and focal pieces. Paintings are included strategically to lead the eyes to different areas. What stands out the most is the way furniture pieces are also part of the home’s decorating approach. For example, the coffee table with mirror surfaces, the dining chairs with red frames and the chrome stools stools offer different functional purposes other than just aesthetic value.

  • If you like decorating with art, pay attention to the forms and colours on the painting and use them to infuse accent colours to your rooms.
  • It’s also a good idea to combine multiple works of art by the same artist or those with very similar styles to create a greater impact
